What is ATV sit in?
Sit-in all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are incredibly versatile machines, making them popular, and vital, tools of the trade for agricultural businesses. But their flexibility means that even the most experienced rider can find themselves in potentially dangerous situations. This is included in the TUPPCO NPORS All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) Sit-In training course.
What does the TUPPCO NPORS All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) Sit-In training course include?
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacture’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for all-terrain vehicle use
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Prepare the all-terrain vehicle for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently
- Attach and set trailer implements ready for operation
- Environmental considerations
- Storage and transport of implements and attachments
- Load and unload from transport vehicle or trailer correctly
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures

- Suitable and safe area to operate and manoeuvre machine
- Varying terrain and slopes
- Suitable and safe area to complete paperwork

Theory assessment:
- 20 multiple choice questions
- 5 written questions
- 4 marks per question
- 80% pass mark required
Practical assessment criteria:
- Pre use and operational checks
- Travel up and down slopes
- Drive through restriction forwards and backwards
- Reverse 30 metres in a straight line, through restrictions
- Use 2WD, 4WD, Differential lock,
- Attach trailer and secure, drive forwards and backwards
- Load vehicle and secure
- Drive over uneven and sloping terrain
- Pass mark is less than 20 penalty points and no mandatory disqualifications
- Time allowed is 1 hour 15 minutes
