What is the QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Annual Refresher) (RQF)
The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Annual Refresher) (RQF) qualification is specifically designed to allow qualified first aiders to update their first aid skills yearly, until requalification training is required. Successful candidates will leave with a renewed confidence, having had the opportunity to practise essential first aid procedures, as well as learn the latest techniques needed to deal with an emergency situation.
With all subjects covered in just 3 hours, this course is an ideal way to satisfy HSE requirements whilst minimising disruption to your organisation’s day-to-day activities!
This QA qualification is:
- For people who deal with first aid at work enabling them to be emergency first aiders under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
- Based on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) training standard for delivery of Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first aider.

Practical assessment criteria:
Practical assessments – observed by the Trainer throughout the course, with the results of each learning outcome recorded on the practical assessment paperwork.
There are 4 mandatory and 1 optional practical assessment for this qualification:
- CPR and safe use of an AED
- Choking casualty
- Unconscious casualty
- Wounds, bleeding and shock
- Optional extra – Catastrophic bleeding
