What is a plant mover course?
The NPORS plant mover course is designed for those operators that need move tracked, wheeled or roller equipment around the yard or site but not use them for the function which they were designed. This is included in the TUPPCO NPORS Plant mover training course – N132
What does the TUPPCO NPORS Plant mover training course include?
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Have a working Knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the Machine and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Plant mover use
- Prepare machinery for use and Operate machinery safely and efficiently
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the Work area
- Environmental considerations
- Storage and transport of machinery attachments
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for Machine transportation
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
Venue and equipment requirements:
- Suitable and safe area to operate machinery
- Varying terrain and slopes
- Suitable and safe area to complete paperwork
- Suitable welfare facilities
- Tracked, wheeled, roller machinery
- Operators’ manual
- Risk assessment completed
PPE Requirements:
- Theory assessment:
- 20 multiple choice questions
- 5 written questions
- 4 marks per question
- 80% pass mark required
Practical assessment criteria:
- Pre use and operational checks
- Travel over slopes
- Travel through restrictions
- Travel through chicane
- Travel machines forwards and backwards
- Travel wheeled machines total of 200 meters
- Travel tracked machines total of 60 metres
- Travel roller 20 metres
- Park machine safely and isolate
- Pass mark is less than 40 penalty points and no mandatory disqualifications
- Time allowed is 20 minutes per machine
